The Orientation Programme for I PU students was held on June 6, 2023, marking a significant start to the new academic year. Dr. Candida Preetha, the esteemed founder and director of MANNA—an NGO that has been tirelessly working for children with different disabilities since 2011—was the resource speaker for the day. The event began with a warm welcome from Mrs. Shaguftha, a Lecturer in the Department of Commerce.
The programme opened with an invocation dance gracefully performed by Lisa of II PCMB-A and Revathy of II PCMC. This was followed by a peaceful and reflective prayer service conducted by the Catholic Club. The lighting of the lamp, a traditional ceremony symbolizing enlightenment and knowledge, was led by the Chief Guest, Dr. Candida Preetha, in the presence of Rev. Dr. Sr. Sophy George (Principal), Sr. Sini (Assistant Principal), Mrs. Mary Latha (Acting Principal), and an I PU student.
Dr. Preetha’s keynote address focused on “Bringing Out Our Abilities and How to Find Oneself,” providing deep insights into personal growth and the critical importance of mental health.
Commemoration of World Day Against Child Labor
Coinciding with the Orientation Programme, the event also commemorated the World Day Against Child Labor. This international day aims to raise awareness and prompt action to eradicate child labor in all its forms. The theme for 2024, “Let’s Act on Our Commitments: End Child Labor,” underscores the urgency of taking tangible steps to honor global promises and pledges against child labor. Students were invited to pledge to avoid purchasing products and services linked to child labor, advocating for brands committed to ethical and fair practices.
Freshers Day Celebration
The day’s events concluded with a vibrant Freshers Day celebration. Senior students showcased their talents through mesmerizing dance performances, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement, joy, music, laughter, and boundless enthusiasm. Various engaging activities culminated in the crowning of the ‘Freshie Queen.’ Yashvi Mahesh Yadhav of I PCMB-A was honored with the title of St. Anne’s Freshie Queen, making it a memorable and joyous occasion for all I PU students.
