St. Anne’s Pre-University College for Girls organized its Orientation Programme and Freshers’ Day 2026–27 on 4th June 2026, warmly welcoming the newly admitted I PU students into the St. Anne’s family.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the pursuit of knowledge. This was followed by a prayer service led by Ms. Silvy Joseph from the Department of Biology and Ms. Petricea from the Department of English, invoking God’s blessings on the students as they embarked on a new phase of their academic journey. A graceful invocation dance performed by Ms. Vaishnavi and Bhoomika G, added vibrancy to the occasion. Ms. Mary Roopashree from the Department of English delivered the Welcome Speech and greeted the gathering warmly. The seniors further added to the celebratory spirit with an energetic and captivating dance performance for their juniors.
The highlight of the morning session was the Orientation Programme conducted by Dr. Nikath Fathima, Consultant Counsellor and Dentist. Through an engaging and interactive session, she addressed important aspects of adolescent life and personal growth. The topics covered included self-awareness, freedom with responsibility, mobile addiction, managing friendships, peer pressure, POCSO and teen pregnancy, and understanding the emotional changes and challenges associated with the transition into adulthood.
Dr. Nikath Fathima began her session with the inspiring story of Ayesha, a science student with dreams and aspirations. Students were encouraged to continue Ayesha’s story by sharing their own ideas, perspectives, and aspirations. This interactive activity helped them reflect on their goals, ambitions, and the choices that shape their future.
Principal Ms. Mary Latha addressed the students and briefed them on the rules and regulations of the college.
The afternoon session featured the much-awaited Freshie Queen Contest. Three participants from each class were selected to compete in four exciting rounds: Self-Introduction, Talent Display, Question Round, and Rapid Response Round. The contestants showcased confidence, creativity, intelligence, and talent, making the competition both entertaining and inspiring.
After a series of impressive performances, Rithika A of I BASC secured the position of Second Runner-up, while Rukhiya Fathima of I EBAS was declared the First Runner-up. Ms. Nikath Fathima of I PCMB B was crowned the Freshie Queen of St. Anne’s PU College for the academic year 2026–27.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sanooba, who expressed gratitude to the management, Principal, chief guest, faculty members, student volunteers, and participants for contributing to the success of the event. The event concluded on a patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem.
The Orientation Programme and Freshers’ Day successfully provided students with valuable guidance, motivation, and opportunities for self-expression. The event not only helped the newcomers gain confidence and awareness but also fostered a sense of belonging, making it a memorable and meaningful beginning to their journey at St. Anne’s.
